It’s helpful to bring some clarification here. Particularly as some people have thought we’re the hotel at the top of the M606 motorway, others thought we’re a group of tree surgeons and someone once contacted us thinking we were a local Lebanese takeaway!
Put simply, Cedar Tree Church is a Bible believing church.
This means that we hold to the main principles of faith which have been the confession of Christian believers since the beginning of the Christian Church.
It also means that we look for the presence of the Holy Spirit of God in our meetings and long to see His gifts of grace operating in and through our lives, bringing healing and restoring our relationship to God.
Why the name Cedar Tree?
Good question! We get asked that a lot, and in fairness it is a very unusual name for a church.
We believe the Lord inspired this name, here’s why…
The Cedar of Lebanon is a beautiful strong tree that can grow up to 35 metres in height and, under its branches, provides a place of shelter and protection for bird, plant and animal life.
We desire that this church be a place of shelter and protection for all people. A place where people can come and seek God for themselves without fear or condemnation. A place where God’s love and presence is, changing our hearts and making us more like Him.
The Lord has called us to be a people described in Psalm 92:12-15. We want to grow to be more like Him, with our identity planted in Him and our lives being fruitful for Him. Our desire is to proclaim ‘the Lord is upright, He is my Rock and there is no wickedness in Him’.
